Insurance & Payment Information

Understanding your coverage and payment options.

We believe every child deserves access to quality speech therapy. Our team is here to help you navigate insurance coverage and find a payment option that works for your family. If you ever have questions about costs or billing, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Insurance Coverage

We accept several major insurance plans. Coverage varies depending on your specific plan, provider network, and the type of services your child needs. Because every plan is different, we recommend verifying your benefits before your first appointment.

Our office staff will verify your insurance benefits before your child's first visit so there are no surprises. If you would like to check your coverage ahead of time, call our office at (816) 228-8393 and we will be happy to help.

How to Verify Your Benefits

If you would like to check your speech therapy benefits on your own, here are the steps:

  • Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card
  • Ask if speech therapy (CPT codes 92507 and 92523) is a covered benefit under your plan
  • Ask if you need a referral from your doctor or pre-authorization before starting therapy
  • Ask about your copay amount, annual deductible, and any session limits per year
  • Ask whether services must be provided by an in-network provider

Not sure where to start? Simply call our office at (816) 228-8393 and we will verify your benefits for you. We are always happy to take that step off your plate.

Out-of-Network Options

If your insurance plan does not include us as an in-network provider, you may still be able to receive reimbursement for speech therapy services. We provide a document called a superbill after each session, which you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

A superbill is a detailed receipt that includes the diagnosis codes, procedure codes, and session information your insurance company needs to process an out-of-network claim. Many families are able to recover a portion of their therapy costs this way.

We recommend calling your insurance company to ask about your out-of-network benefits before your first visit so you know what to expect.

Private Pay

We offer competitive self-pay rates for families who prefer to pay out of pocket or whose insurance does not cover speech therapy services. Private pay can also be a great option for families who want to avoid referral requirements or session limits set by insurance.

Please contact our office for current session rates. We are happy to discuss pricing and help you find an option that works for your family.

  • HSA and FSA accounts accepted -- Speech therapy is typically an eligible expense under Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts
  • No referral required for private pay patients
  • No session limits when paying out of pocket

What to Expect with Billing

We want the billing process to be as straightforward as possible so you can focus on what matters most -- your child's progress. Here is how billing works at our practice:

  • Copays are due at the time of service -- Please be prepared to pay your copay at each visit
  • Insurance is billed after each session -- We submit claims to your insurance company on your behalf
  • Statements are provided -- You will receive clear statements showing what was billed, what insurance paid, and any remaining balance
  • Questions are always welcome -- If you receive a statement and have questions, please call our office and we will walk you through it

Payment Methods

We accept the following forms of payment for copays, self-pay sessions, and any outstanding balances:

  • Cash
  • Personal checks
  • Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express)
  • Debit cards
  • HSA and FSA cards
