About Billings Speech Pathology Services

Changing lives, one voice at a time — since 1994.

Founded in 1994 by Mary Billings, MS, CCC-SLP, COM, Billings Speech Pathology Services started as a single clinician's vision to provide the highest-quality, most individualized speech pathology services in Kansas City. What began as one therapist's dedication to her patients has grown into a trusted practice serving families across the metro with two clinic locations and teletherapy — but our commitment to personalized, expert-led care has never changed.

Our Mission

Help every individual reach their fullest communication potential through expert, compassionate, individualized care.

At BSPS, we believe that communication is fundamental to everything — learning, relationships, confidence, and quality of life. Every person who walks through our doors deserves a clear path forward, and our team is here to provide it.

What Makes Us Different

Not all speech therapy is the same. Here is what sets BSPS apart from other practices in the Kansas City area:

  • Expert-Led Care: Founded and led by Mary Billings, a nationally recognized educator, ASHA Subject Matter Expert, and COM-certified orofacial myologist who teaches other clinicians across the country. Our clinical standards start at the top and permeate every session.
  • 1:1 Therapy Sessions: Every session is one-on-one with your therapist — never group therapy, never rotating clinicians. Your child builds a relationship with their therapist, and that consistency drives real progress.
  • Integrated Service Model: We are one of the few practices offering speech therapy, feeding therapy, orofacial myofunctional therapy, AND reading intervention under one roof. This means fewer referrals, less waiting, and a more cohesive treatment plan.
  • Only COM-Certified OMD Specialists in KC: BSPS is currently the only private practice in the Kansas City metro with therapists certified in the diagnosis and treatment of orofacial myofunctional disorders. If your child has tongue thrust, mouth breathing, or other oral habit concerns, we have the specialized training to help.
  • Family-Centered Approach: We partner with you, not just treat your child. Expect clear communication, practical home strategies, and genuine collaboration every step of the way.

Our Values

  • Expertise: We hold ourselves to the highest clinical standards. Our team pursues ongoing education and stays current with the latest evidence-based practices.
  • Compassion: Every family and every individual is treated with warmth, empathy, and respect. We understand that seeking therapy can feel overwhelming, and we are here to make it easier.
  • Individualization: No two people are the same, and no two treatment plans should be either. We tailor every evaluation and therapy plan to the unique needs of the person we are serving.
  • Education: We believe informed families make the best partners in therapy. We teach, explain, and empower you to support progress at home.
  • Collaboration: We work as a team — with you, with your child's teachers, with their doctors, and with each other — because the best outcomes come from working together.
